It is imperative that you take regular backups of the data stored in Exigen Reminder. Exigen Reminder is able to compress the data so it can be stored on floppy disks. Systems with over 10,000 patients can be backed up to one floppy disk.

The backup option is available on the file menu. All other forms within Exigen Reminder, e.g. Patient Details, Reminder Letter List, Advanced Search, etc. must be closed before you are able to perform a backup.

Data may be backed up to floppy disks or a designated backup folder (network folder, removable device, etc.).
When the backup location has been selected the data is compressed ready to be backed up. The following screen will be displayed:

If you have selected to backup your data to floppy disk, Exigen Reminder will then prompt you to insert the floppy disks as required.
There must sufficient space on the floppy to backup the reminder database. Exigen Reminder will allow you to overwrite a previous backup, but will show the following confirmation screen before overwriting existing data.

When backing up to floppy disks it takes approximately a minute to copy data to each disk used.
Once the copying process is finished the backup success form is shown. If you're copying to a folder rather than a floppy then the completion form will be shown immediately after the backing up process has completed. If you're using floppy disks don't forget to mark them as an Exigen Reminder backup (with date) and store in a safe place.
